Even in 2026, the fpt robotics Cup was once again a complete success. Eight teams from five countries competed for the tournament victory. Lokomotiva Zagreb ultimately prevailed in the penalty shootout in the final against St. Gallen, who had already been defeated in last year's final by 1. FC Heidenheim. Last year's winners won their match for fifth place against the team from Saarland, SV Elversberg.
Another penalty shootout took place before that in the match for third place. Slovan Bratislava secured a podium spot as third-place finishers with a 4-3 win (on penalties).
The hosts, SGM Haslach/Amtzell, had to admit defeat in the match for 7th place against FC Shelbourne from Ireland.
The results from the knockout stage:
Finale: Lokomotiva Zagreb FC St. Gallen 4:1 on penalties.
3rd Place Match: SK Slovan Bratislava – Brasilia Novoc Talentos 4:3 on penalties.
5th Place Match: SV Elversberg – 1. FC Heidenheim 0:1
7th Place Playoff: SGM Amtzell/Haslach – FC Shelbourne 0:4
„We are very satisfied with the tournament; there were games of a very good level,“ says Simon Wetzel from the organizing team.
With the best weather and scenery, more than 120 volunteers ensured the event ran smoothly. This would not have been possible without their support – thank you very much!
For the young players, the communal experience was just as important as the sporting competition. The Whitsun Tournament contributes year after year to fostering talent early on and strengthening togetherness. Furthermore, it is a good opportunity for clubs to network with each other across national borders and learn from one another.
